sir im reaaly confused. we say that solubility of alkaline earth metal hydroxide increases down the group but that of alkaline earth metal carbonates and sulphates decreases. Why? What is solubility of a compound really dependent on?

Expert Answer
solubilities of alkaline earth metal carbonates and sulphates decreases down the group because of decrease in the hydration energies of the cations from Be2+ to Ba2+.
Whereas in case of metal hydroxides - their ionisation enthalpies decease on moving dowm the group.
