Sir I have a question about the freezing of water into ice.

Water expands on cooling because on cooling water it converts to ice which has a crystalline cage like structure. 
Also, water exhibits the property of anomalous expansion. It has the highest density at 4oC. At any temperature lower or higher than 4oC, the density of water is lower.
