In 
APC and DPB
APC = DPB ... Opposite angles,
ACD = DBA i.e. C = B ..... Angles subtended by same chord AD.
A = D ... Angles subtended by same chord CB
APC 
DPB ... AAA
Hence,
AP/DP = CP/BP .... Ratio of corresponding sides of similary triangles,
AP.BP = CP.DP
