should the control rod in the nuclear react be porous in order to absorb the neutrons in a better and faster manner as pores can absorb easily??

more the control rods inserted more it absorbs neutrons. it has nothing to do with the pores of rod. neutrons are absorbed by the atom of the material of the control rod itself, not by the pores.
