Some major problems faced by textile industry are:
- In cotton tectile industry, spinning and weaving units of the country cannot use high-quality yarn produced in the country.
- Production takes place in small factories which cater to only local markets.
- Low productivity of labour
- Irregular supply of electricity
- Tough competition from the synthetic fibre industry
- Old and outdated machines and technology is still used in textile industries
- Jute textile industries in India face stiff competition from Bangladesh, Brazil, Egypt and Thailand.
