rubber band is a solid yet we are able to change it's shape by stretching. why???

Rubber is a polymer. It has special properties. Polymers dont have a sharp M.P and we can change any state to other by changing the temperature so actually in solid state it should be brittle.Actually its in transition hence shows these special properties.
