let Dimes = D, Nickels = N and Quarters = Q
D+Q = 7............ (i)
D+N = 8............ (ii)
D+Q+N = 10............ (iii)
Subtituting the value of (i) in (iii)
7+N=10
N=3
Putting the value of N in (ii)
D=5
Hence there are 5 dimes.
