One of the earliest systems of classification called the 'Two-Kingdom Classification' was proposed by Carolus Linnaeus in 1758. This classification system was based on the natural system of classification. According to two kingdom classification, living organisms were classified into two broad kingdoms:
- Plant Kingdom
- Animal Kingdom
