resonant frequency

Expert Answer:

All substances can vibrate with maximum amplitude when an external force of frequency equal to their fundamental frequency of vibration is applied.
When this force oscillates a substance (say a tuning fork) with its natural frequency, then the fork starts vibrating with maximum amplitude. This condition is called resonance and the frequency of vibration is called resonant frequency.
