A germ cell is  a gamete (as an egg or sperm cell) or one of its antecedent cells. In all organisms that reproduce sexually, germ cells are haploid.In haploid organisms after the fusion, zygote divides meotically to produce haploid cells.
There is no difference between the germ cells of a simple(haploid) or complex(diploid or any other) organism.
