Imagine, a wave in which electri field fluctuates with time in a sinusodial manner. according to maxwell's equation a fulctuating electric flux generates magnetic field and vise-veersa thus magnetic field is generated. Such a type of wave in which both electric and magnetic field is linked is callled electromagnetic waves.
