Helen use to hunt for the eggs of the guines-fowls. As they were hidden in out-of-the-way places, Helen found great delight in findig them. Martha didn't accompany Helen on such trips' Helen was on her own.
The sheds where the corn was stored, the stable where the horses were kept, and the yard where the cows were milked morning and evening were unfailing sources of interest to Helen. The milkers would let her keep her hands on the cows while they milked, and she often got well switched by the cow for her curiosity.
