Dear Student
A person inside a metal cage does not experience an electric shock because the metal cage behaves as an electrostatic shield whereas a wooden cage being an insulator will not function as one.
This behaviour is based on behaviour of the molecules constituting the cage.
Metallic cage molecules will ensure that net resultant elctric field inside the cage is zero whereas it is not in case of an indulator cage.
You will study more about this phenomena in your higher classes.
