Area of rectangle PQRS - Area of rectangle ABCD Area of a path    
32 × 24 - [(32 - 2x) (24 - 2x)]
Solving this equation we get x = 26 or x = 2 
x = 26 is not possible as breadth of a rectangtle is 24 m. 
Width of a path can not be larger.
x =  2 m 
Width of a footpath is 2 m.
