We know that,
the general equation of a parabola is (y - k)2 = 4p(x- h) where (h, k ) is the vertex and x = h - p is the directrix.
Given equation is y2 = 8(x+1).
That is, (y - 0)2 = 4(2)(x- (-1))
So, h = 0, k = -1, p = 2
vertex = (0, -1)
directrix is x = 0 - 2, that is x= -2
