Q. what happened when the control of collonial government tightened over Indian trade ?

As the colonial control tightened over the Indian trade, the areas in which the Indain merchants and industrialists could expand their trading business became extremely limited.they could not trade with Europe in manufactured goods and had to mostly export raw materials (cotton, opium, wheat, indigo etc)and food grains to Britain to fulfill the needs of the British industries and people.Gradually, they were also forced out of the shipping business.
