Resistance of a metal wire is found to be DIRECTLY PROPOTIONAL TO IT'S LENGTH.
and INVERSELY PROPOTIONAL TO THE CROSS SECTIONAL AREA.
Hence,
R L/A, where R is the resistance, L is the length, and A is the cross sectional area.
The propotionality constant is called resistivity, and denoted by ρ.
R = ρL/A.
