Dear Student,
Knowing that the curved surface area of a sphere is 4Πr2,
The curved surface area of a hemisphere will be half of that of a full sphere, which is, 2Πr2.
But this is only when the cross sectional face of the hemisphere is not considered, whose area is simply the area of a circle with radius r, which is, Πr2.
Hence the total curved surface area of a hemisphere is 2Πr2 + Πr2 = 3Πr2.
