The given relation is a equation and lhs is not neccesarily equal rhs.As a counterexample consider x = π/4 .We have

L.H.S=(1/21/2)8 +(1/21/2)8 = 1/8

R.H.S=1

Hence LHS is not equal to RHS in this case.
