Expert Answer:

If two dice are thrown and X denotes the number of sixes

Probability of obtaining a six onthe dice =1/6 and probability of not getting a six  =5/6

then X can take values 0,1,2

with Probabilities P(X=0)= (5/6)2  =25/36

P(X=1)= 21/65/6 = 10/36

P(X=2)= 1/36

E(X)= 025/36+110/36+21/36= 12/36 =1/3
