Expert Answer
Let d be the distance to be travelled .
Walking speed of Preeti on stationary escalator = ( d / t1 )
Speed of escalator alone when Preeti remains stationary = ( d / t2 )
Speed v of Preeti while walking on a moving escaltor seen from statioanry observer
away from escaltoris given as
v = ( d / t1 ) + ( d / t2 ) = d ( t1 t2 ) / ( t1 + t2 )
Time taken if preeti is walking on a moving escalator = distance / speed = d / v = ( t1 + t2 ) / ( t1 t2 )
