Expert Answer

b/a x + a/b y = a2 + b2

 x +  y = 2ab

Multiply 2nd equation by, b/a and subtract from 1st.

(a/b - b/a)y = a2 + b2 - 2b2

(a2 - b2)y/(ab) = a2 - b2

y = ab.

Therefore, x = 2ab - y = ab.

x = y = ab.
