Expert Answer
let the original number of students be x.
so the expenditure per person will be 240/x
if the number of students reduces to x-4
then
the expenditure per person will be 240/(x-4)
of course in this case the expenditure per head is more than before.
so ATQ,
[240/(x-4)]-[240/x]=5
since the number of students can't be -ve
so
x=16
