Dear Student,
A system of linear eqns with two variables will have infinite soluntions if and only if all the eqns in the system correspond to the same eqns, i.e. all coefficients are proportional.
therefore,
2/(a-b) = 3/(a+b)
=> 2a + 2b = 3a - 3b
=> 5b = a
=> a/b = 5 ----(1)
Also,
2/(a-b) = 7/(3a + b - 2)
=> 6a + 2b - 4 = 7a - 7b
=> 9b = a + 4
from (1) above, a = 5b
=> 9b = 5b + 4
=> 4b = 4
=> b = 1
hence, a = 5 and b = 1
and a/b = 5.
Regards,
Topprlearning.
