So, three types of motion will yield (3/2)kT, where k is a constant.
We have 1 mole of molecules.
Multiplying k by 6.022 x 10^23 (the number of molecules in a mole) yields the constant R. Therefore, the internal energy of one mole of molecules of an ideal gas is (1/2)RT x the number of types of motion each molecule can undergo.
