Question: The average of 19 observations is 4. If one more observation, 24, is included , the new value of the average will be:
Solution:
Average of 19 observations is 4.
Sum of 19 observations is 19 x 4 = 76
Adding one more observation 24 to the sum, we have
New sum = 76 + 24 = 100
No. of observations is 19+1 = 20
New average = 100/20 = 5
