Q: The average salary of 15 managers in an office is Rs. 70,000 whereas the average salary of the executives in that office is Rs. 10,000. If the average salary of both managers and executives in the office is Rs. 30,000, then find the number of executives in the office.
Solution:
Let M be the sum of salaries of 15 managers and E be the sum of salaries of executives
Let the number of executives be 'a'
According to the question,
M = 15 x 70000 = 1050000
E = 10000a
E+M=(15+a)30000
rightwards double arrow 1050000 plus 10000 a equals 15 cross times 30000 plus 30000 a rightwards double arrow 1050000 equals 450000 plus 30000 a minus 10000 a rightwards double arrow 1050000 minus 450000 equals 20000 a rightwards double arrow 600000 equals 20000 a rightwards double arrow a equals 30
