But if we want to try,

use (X²-Y²) = (X+Y)(X-Y)

or try writing,

[3ab(a²+b²) - 3xy(x²+y²)]/3 = ((a+b)³ - a³ - b³ - (x+y)³ + x³ + y³)/3
