N/N0 = e-λt

where N = Nuclei left after time t,

N0 = Initial number of nuclei.

Now since t = 1/λ

N/N0 = e-λ(1/λ)

N/N0 = e-1

N/N0 = 1/e

N0-N = Nuclei decayed in time t,

Hence the fraction is

(N0-N)/N = (e-1)/e
