Question: Find the solution of the given linear equations in two variable by using Substitution Method.
3x + y = -3
x + y = 3
Solution:
3x + y = -3 ... (1)
x + y = 3
→ x = 3 - y .. (2)
Substitute the value of x from (2) to (1), we get
3(3 - y) + y = -3
9 - 3y + y = -3
12 - 2y = 0
12 = 2y
y = 6
Put y = 6 in (1), we get
x = 3 - 6 = -3
Therefore the solution of the given linear equations in two variables is x = -3 and y = 6.
