The chemical name of limestone is Calcium carbonate.
The chemical formula of limestone is CaCO3.
When limestone is strongly heated it gives off CO2 and lime.
CaCO3CaO + CO2
Exess of CO2 can be tested by passing it into lime water than lime water turns milky.
