The end to end length is 5 cm, so the length of cylindrical portion is 5 - 2.8 = 2.2 cm.
Volume of one Gulab jamun = Volume of cylindrical portion + Volume of 2 hemispherical ends.
Volume of one Gulab jamun = Volume of cylindrical portion + Volume a sphere.
= πDL + πD3/6 = (22/7)(2.8)(2.2) + (22/7)(2.8)3/6 = 19.36 + 11.5 = 30.86 cm3
The sugar syrup in one Gulab jamun = (0.30)(30.86) cm3
The sugar syrup in 45 Gulab jamun = (45)(0.30)(30.86) = 416 cm3
The answer at the end of the CBSE Class X book is 338 cm3 and is incorrect.
