Expert Answer:

Following are some of the important novels and their themes:

Pamela, Samuel Richardson - Written in the form of an exchange of letters between two lovers, it throws light on the various hidden conflicts in the heroine's mind.

Hard Times, Charles Dickens - It critiqued the rising tide of industrial capitalism in Europe. It showed how the capitalist class was turning the labourers into mere instrument of production devoid of any humanity.

Germinal, Emile Zola - It explored the grim world of the mines and miners. Unlike other novels, it ended on a sombre note and showcased the inhuman nature of contemporary capitalist exploitation of the proletariat.

Indirabai, Gulavadi Venkata Rao - It explored important social issues like problems faced by widows, women's education and child marriage.

Sultana’s Dream, Rokeya Hossein - It was about an imaginary/alternative world where women take the place of men.

Ponniyin Selvan, Kalki - It is a historical/period novel about the life and times of Rajaraja Chola I, a king of the Chola dynasty of South India.
