In class X we deal with only acute angles  for trigonometric ratios and we explain it using the right triangle . However, trigonometric functions are circular functions and are periodic . They  are explained using the unit circle in the coordinate system.

Depending on which quadrant the angle lies Trigonometric ratios take negative values as well.

So cosec can take negative values as well.
