a) The resistance of each part = R/4, since the resistance is directly propotional to length, and if length is made 1/4, the resistance will also change so.
b) If two equal resistances are connected in parallel then the equivalent resistance is 1/2 of the initial. Since we are connecting 4 resistances in parallel then the equivalent resistance will be 1/4 of initial i.e R/4.
Hence the equivalent resistance is R/16.
