let the position of the man be A.
Let AB=10 m
Let C be the top and D be the bottom of the hill.
So,
BDis the distance of the hill from the ship.
CD is the height of the hill.
Let AE be the horizontal line thru the eye of the observer meeting CD at E.
Let CE=h (say)
ED=10 m given
So acc to question,
angle CAE=60
and
angle EAD=30
AE=BD=x(say).. they are equal as they are opp sides of a rectangele.
tan60=h/x
tan30=10/x
substituting the values of the trig ratios of 30 and 60 degrees we get that
x=10 multiplied by root 3
and
h=30
