Expert Answer
Polarisation direction is means, electric field is in z-direction
Waveform given in option (1) is correct due to following reason
(i) magnetic field direction(1/√2)( - ) is perpendicular to propagation direction (1/√2)( + ) as well as electric field direction
(ii) phase of the waveform indicates wave is propagating in the +ve direction of (1/√2)( + )
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Waveform given in option (2) is wrong due to following reason
magnetic field direction and wave propagation direction can not be same, they are perpendicular to each other
-----------------------------------
Waveform given in option (3) is correct due to following reason
magnetic field direction and polarization direction ( or electric field direction) can not be same, they are perpendicular to each other
--------------------------------------------------------
Waveform given in option (4) is correct due to following reason
phase of the waveform indicates wave is propagating in the -ve direction of (1/√2)( + )
