The genetic transmission of characters from parent to offspring is called heredity.

Evolution is a gradual and continuous process by which the first and most primitive of living organisms have developed into a more advanced or complex form seen in today's world.

Evolution involves changes that occur over a period of time involving such things as the adaptation of living things to their environment or a process of improving the design of products. All forms of plant and animal life change slowly over time because of slight variations in the genes that one generation passes down to the next. It is the through evolution that the present diversity of plant and animal life arose from the earliest organisms.
