Hope following facts will clarify your doubts.

when velocity varies nonuniformely, then average velocity = S / t

when velocity varies uniformely, then average velocity can also be calculated by (u + v) / 2.

Acceleration = (v - u) / t ; this does not represnt displacement / time.
