C4 plants are photosynthetically more efficient than C3 plants because they have more number of chloroplasts. The mesophyll chloroplasts in C4 plants are highly specialised to perform light-dependent reactions of photosynthesis whereas the bundle sheath cells are specialised to perform light-independent reactions.
