(a) Work done = F x s
= ma × s
= m x g x h
= mgh (Potential Energy)
In both the situations, W = mgh, since it is independent of the path followed and depends only on initial and final positions.
(b) Muscular force is doing positive work as it is in the direction of motion.
Gravitational force is doing negative work as it is in the opposite to the direction of motion.
