The work done by gravity on the satellite in the ideal case (means if the mtion is considered circular) will be zero because the force and the displacement is always perpendicular. One can understand in other way that if force is perpendicular to the velocity , the speed will not change . From work energy theorem the net work done is zero if change in KE is zero.
