Q.Why was there no one in the mansion when Hubert arrived there?Do you find anything strange about this?

Hubert found the mansion empty because its residents had left the house in the middle of their dinner as they had heard a loud cry which sounded a lot like murder. This is a bit strange as when Hubert arrived at the mansion, the door was wide open and a sumptuous feast was laid out in the dining hall, with no one in sight. This was funny because they all left together when only one or two could have gone and checked the source of cries. Instead, all people left expecting to see an adventure. Also, they left the house unguarded; with its doors wide open.
