THe approach to be followed for solving the question is:

1) Use: -39.2 = 9.8 t - 1/2gt2 .Solution of this quadratic equation gives the answer.

2)It passes through the point of projection when: 0=9.8 t - 1/2 gt2 which gives t=2 s

3)v= 9.8-gt ,t is time calculated in 1st part.
