By considering the contribution of each face centered , how many at the corners, edges etc.. and add all of them.
eg thre are 8 corners , each corner one cotributes 1/8 so 8 x 1/8 = 1 atom
1 body center = 1, its contribution is 1 so 1x1=1atom
total # of atoms per unit = 2 atoms
