- 'Ganyat-al-Munya' or 'Ganyat-ul-Munya' meaning ‘pleasure of desire’,is the first work of Indian music by an Islamic scholar in the fourteenth century.
- Sultan Husian Shah Sharqi of Jaunpur was responsible for the invention of the khyal form of classical singing.
- Jaunpur’s ruler Sultan Husain Shah Sharqi is credited with creating the morning raga Jaunpuri.
