Expert Answer:
A mixture of salt and sugar can be separated by dissolving the mixture in a sutable solvent. Since both are soluble in water so we cannot use it. We can use alcohol as a solvent since sugar is soluble in alcohol while salt is insoluble. So salt can be filtered out and separated while sugar dissolved in alcohol can be r ecovered by heating the sugar solution during which alcohol evaporates and sugar crystals are left behind.
