methane cannot be prepared by kolbe's electrolytic method. why????? :)

The Kolbe's electrolytic method is useful for the preparation of ethane and higher members. Through this method, the alkane is formed by the combination of two alkyl free radical and therefore it would contain atleast two carbon atom. Methane having only one carbon atom cant be prepared through this method.
