Do you mean to ask "why did the British colonise India'?
The British came to India as traders and soon realised that they could safeguard their trading and economic interests by colonizing the country. The Battle of Plessey in 1757 laid the foundation of the British rule in India. By 1765, the British had become the virtual rulers of Bengal, Bihar and Odisha. Later they expanded their rule in south and west India as well.
India at this time was not united. It was divided into several states who were fighting with each other. The feeling of nationalism had not still crept in. Britain colonized India to safeguard its economic interests in the country.
