mam, why does a virus need a host to reproduce

Expert Answer:

Viruses lack cellular organization and machinery necessary for reproduction and other living activities. They are dead outside the living host cell. They need a host to reproduce so that they can take over the host cell machinery to replicate themselves, thereby killing the host.
